- 323 students participating in the Junior Engineering Academy visit key business sites for 3 days from August 17 to August 19.
- Witnessing first-hand the application of scientific principles in the field, and enhancing their understanding of the automotive industry
On August 18, Hyundai Mobis announced that it is conducting a program that provides Junior Engineering Academy participants from around the country with an opportunity to visit its key business sites located throughout the country. This program will be conducted for three days from August 17 to August 19, and 323 students from 10 elementary schools around the country will benefit from this program.
The Junior Engineering Academy is Hyundai Mobis’ representative social contribution activity that enables elementary students to learn how basic scientific principles are materialized as technologies through hands-on practice. Professional instructors, consisting of Hyundai Mobis researchers, visit elementary schools near its factories around the country, and the students carry out practice projects, e.g. making model safe cars or glasses for preventing sleepiness.
Hyundai Mobis went a step further to design this site visitation program so that students can see and feel how the scientific principles they learned in class are applied in actual industrial sites. In particular, to help children understand the automotive industry as a whole, the company diversified the sites they visit to include automotive part production lines, technical centers and distribution centers.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Mobis has been operating the Junior Engineering Academy since 2005 so that children can develop a deeper interest in science. In 2014, it launched the using the Mobile Science Bus, and extended the benefits to elementary schools around the country. Also, in the same year, Hyundai Mobis started the Junior Engineering Program in Jiangsu Province, China, and it is expanding the program overseas, e.g. India and Europe.
